I’m Kristen Oaks White — a Louisiana girl raised on red dirt, lush fields, and the sound of cattle lowing across a pasture. I grew up on a poultry and cattle farm in Calhoun, where I spent more time in the show barn than anywhere else. By the time I was old enough to hold a brush, I was already learning the value of hard work, the beauty of rural life, and the joy of creating something with my hands.

Art was always woven into my world, even as I built a career telling the stories of Louisiana’s farmers and ranchers. As a broadcast journalist and co-host of This Week in Louisiana Agriculture, I’ve spent years traveling across the state, meeting the people who feed and sustain our communities. Their grit, their families, their faith, and their love for the land continue to inspire every stroke of my brush.

Today, my artwork is a reflection of all the things that feel like home to me:

the quiet strength of an old church steeple
the beauty of the Mississippi River bridge at sunset
the curve of a crawfish tail at a spring boil
the crimson poppies that bloom along the river bank, a row of soybeans, a backyard hen with attitude
the places and traditions that root us

Whether I’m painting the Natchez bridge, a hot-air balloon drifting over the bluff, or a calf just finding its legs, my hope is always the same — that my art brings you a sense of warmth, belonging, and Southern familiarity.

I now live in Natchez, Mississippi with my husband, Landon, our son, Teddy, and a barnyard full of inspiration. Together we farm, grow pumpkins, raise cattle, and live the agricultural story we love so much.
